In memory of James Kemp

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sad passing of our founder and Chairman James Kemp on Friday 22nd December 2023. His funeral service will take place on Tuesday 30th January 2024. His legacy will forever be remembered, he will always hold a special place in our hearts and our deepest condolences go out to his family.

The business began back in the mid 1980’s, with James and his son Paul renting a small unit on a Trading Estate in Bunny, Nottingham, selling replacement built in appliances and advertising in local publications such as Exchange and Mart. To begin with the business only traded at weekends, selling discontinued clearance models which were bought from some of the larger Retailers and Distributors.

As James and Paul built strong direct relationships with leading Manufacturers including Bosch, Neff, Siemens and Smeg, the business went from strength to strength, and over the decades became one of the largest Independent Electrical Retailers in the Midlands. Almost 40 years later the business is still on the same Trading Estate, but now employing more than fifty staff and servicing all corners of the UK mainland.

James’ spirit will live on, and he will always be remembered for his no nonsense, commercial approach to both suppliers and staff members alike. He had a very ‘firm but fair’ attitude towards those he employed, and he was always happy to help people out in their hour of need. Although James’ physical health deteriorated in recent years, he had a very sharp mind and always showed a keen interest in both the business and the market even after he retired.
