1986
Our founding father & son team saw a gap in the market selling standalone appliances and began Appliance Warehouse. The duo worked every Saturday 10am - 1pm selling kitchen appliances from manufacturers such as Blanco, Bosch & De Dietrich.

Along the way, we’ve built a reputation for quality, expert advice, and genuine customer care. Our head office still sits alongside our showroom in Bunny, Nottingham – right where it all began.

We’re one team, working together for you
Our entire team works side by side in one open plan space, including our leadership team. That means if a question or issue comes up, it’s handled quickly. It also gives our team more flexibility to offer better deals with directors there to authorise it there and then, especially when you’re buying more than one item with our Multibuy. It’s a simple approach that works well for everyone.
Our History
1990
We quickly became the largest independent retailer for Siemens, as well as one of the first retailers to purchase large volumes of Smeg appliances - who were relatively new to the UK market at the time.
1995
We saw our first £1M turnover! A huge achievement being a family run business before the internet, where sales were predominantly in store.
1996
James took a step back from the business, leaving Paul in charge as Managing Director - who now works alongside his own son.
2001
We opened the doors to our first showroom for customers to browse leisurely amongst a variety of branded appliances on show before making their final decision, with expert advice on hand for support.
2003
We joined the fast growing world wide web with a new brand name & identity – Appliance City. Demand was higher than we expected, so we took a short break to prepare the logistics ready to for national deliveries and the customer care that came with it!
2005
Preparing to celebrate our 20th anniversary, we gave away hundreds of Privilege Cards to our repeat customers with exclusive discounts and offers available throughout 2006.
2006
Appliance City became the first online retailer approved to sell Britannia appliances.
2007
We gained the second approved online retailer status in the UK from major household brand, Siemens.
2010
We made the strategic decision to purchase the land & building that our showroom & operations had been based on from the beginning. We've since rented part of the land to another Nottinghamshire based business.
2020
Paul’s son joined the business. Starting out as a Warehouse Assistant, Harry worked his way up to becoming one of our Buyers bringing in new & exciting brands.
2022
As the business continued to grow, so did our product range. In 2022 we expanded our range from mainly kitchen appliances to also include TV's & soundbars from our core brands; Samsung & LG.
2026
It's a huge year for Appliance City, as we celebrate 40 years as a family run business. And, as one of the largest independent appliance retailers in the UK, we can't wait to see what the next 40 years has in store!

Our Showroom
We have a large showroom, a short drive away from Nottingham city centre. Come and browse a wide selection of products. From American style fridge freezers and air venting induction hobs, to laundry and boiling water taps. We even have a small selection of TV’s on display. Our team are on hand to offer expert advice and help you to find the appliances for your dream kitchen.
